We currently have a position for a Piano Teacher, with the potential for voice students as well, at our studio for the 2022-2023 School Year, Sept to June.

Applicants should be qualified to teach piano to beginner to advanced level of students; children, teens & adults. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license to drive to the studio for teaching, which is located in Fall River, Nova Scotia. Our studio is open Monday to Saturday, typical teaching hours are 2-8pm weekdays and 9am-3pm Saturdays. Official teaching days and hours will be determined after the interview process.

If the candidate enjoys the position and is deemed a team member by the director, there would be the possibility to stay on for future employment. Joyful Sounds Music Studio is a premier neighbourhood music school with a team of 15 professional staff committed to igniting passion in students for joyful music making.

Front Office Concierge - Click to Learn More

Joyful Sounds Music Studio is actively looking to fill a position for our Front Office Team. You will be the one of the ‘faces’ of our studio and ensure all families receive a heartwarming welcome, feeling valued and nurtured at all touch points. You will also work in partnership with our Front Office Manager, and provide active support for all teaching staff. This includes answering calls, taking payments, scheduling lessons & classes, and most importantly, keeping the studio clean to Public Health standards.

As a Front Office Employee, you should combine a pleasant personality with a dynamic professional attitude to support our team of music educators. Our ideal candidate can deal efficiently with electronic systems to process registrations, schedules and payments, and has a solid customer service approach. Ultimately, you should be able to ensure our front desk provides professional and friendly service to our families, prospects and teaching staff.

Responsibilities

• Ensure front desk and entire studio is tidy and has all necessary materials at all times, and maintaining a high level of cleaning support

• Support staff, including teachers with any needs to ensure the best experience for our families

• Schedule lessons, take registrations, take payments

• Ensure timely and accurate customer service

• Handle specific customer requests about scheduling, registering, etc. with ease

• Troubleshoot emergencies

• Daily cleaning of all studio spaces to ensure quality cleanliness at all times including vacuuming, bathroom sanitization, dusting, garbage removal

• Change letters on exterior signage when needed

• Tear down and set up of rooms dependent on the needs of the class, including tables and chairs, boxes, etc.

• Support at public events including parades, recitals, etc.

• Seamless hand-off of duties to primary Office Manager Requirements

• Proven work experience as an administrative or front end reception an asset

• Hands on experience with office machines (printers, copiers, electronics)

• A willingness to train on proper customer service and use of online systems

• Proficiency in English (oral and written)

• Solid knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word, including ease of moving through several computer systems online

• Physical capabilities to climb ladders, clean, lift up to 20lbs, move office furniture when needed

• Excellent communication and people skills

• Good organizational and multitasking abilities

• Problem-solving skills

• Powerful understanding of social media in the business sense

• Valid driver’s license

Current Position Details: Entry Level Position. 5 shifts per week; confirmed Mondays – Fridays; 1:30pm-close (typically 8:30pm; times may vary). The position entails these hours from Sept to June, with possible hours in July & August when we run our daytime summer camps. Joyful Sounds Music Studio follows the HRCE school year calendar for holidays observed.
