About Joyful Sounds Music Studio
Joyful Sounds Music Studio is a welcoming, community-centered music school located in the heart of Fall River, Nova Scotia, with satellite locations throughout Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). Since 2005, we have been dedicated to nurturing a lifelong love of music through high-quality music lessons and engaging group programs for students of all ages—from newborns and toddlers to youth and adults.
As a premium neighbourhood music studio, Joyful Sounds is a place where families feel valued, inspired, and truly part of something special. Whether you are joining us for our award-winning Kindermusik classes, enrolling in private music lessons, or participating in camps and group programs, our goal is always the same: to make music joyful, meaningful, and accessible.
Our Story
Joyful Sounds began in 2005 when founder Louise MacDonald, known affectionately as Miss Louise, started teaching music from her home studio in Windsor Junction. What began as a small, family-focused program offering Kindermusik and piano lessons quickly grew through word of mouth and strong community support.
Recognizing the Fall River community’s passion for music education, Louise expanded into a commercial space, officially forming Joyful Sounds Music Studio in 2011. By 2013, the studio had grown into a thriving music school offering a wide range of classes and private lessons.
Today, Joyful Sounds serves families across Fall River and HRM, offering in-studio, virtual, and off-site programming. Our growth has always been guided by our commitment to quality instruction, nurturing our students, and meaningful musical experiences.
Meet the Owner: Louise MacDonald
Louise MacDonald, owner and director of Joyful Sounds Music Studio, is deeply committed to providing exceptional music education for every family who walks through our doors. Louise holds a Bachelor of Music in Classical Piano and a Bachelor of Music Education, and teaching has been a lifelong passion.
As both an educator and business owner, Louise takes pride in building a studio culture rooted in encouragement, creativity, and connection. While Joyful Sounds has grown significantly over the years, it is still the small musical moments: first songs, growing confidence, and shared joy that mean the most.
