Anton Leonardo

Anton Leonardo

Guitar

Anton began his musical journey with piano lessons at age nine but truly discovered his love of music a few years later when he picked up the guitar. Inspired by Iron Maiden and the punk and metal soundtracks of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games, he realized that music could be creative, expressive, and fun—not just scales in a book. From that point on, he was hooked.

In high school, Anton performed with Hants East Rural High’s jazz and pit bands, as well as the Nova Scotia Honour Jazz ensemble, where he studied under Ken MacKay. He went on to graduate from NSCC’s Music Arts program, playing in rock, jazz, and funk groups and studying with guitar mentor Geordie Haley. Along the way, he developed strong musicianship and a passion for exploring many different styles.

Over the past two decades, Anton has performed in everything from metal and R&B projects to his current instrumental progressive rock band, NightTimer. He brings to teaching a focus on tone, timbre, and texture—the often-overlooked elements that make music truly come alive. At Joyful Sounds, Anton looks forward to sharing not just skills, but also the joy, creativity, and life lessons that music has to offer.
